"The Harper government has already dismantled much of the national store, and, with the current campaign toward likely re-election, seems bent on finishing the job. There's more. Read the full column, here. It's a gem.In politics, you do what you gotta do. If that means sowing the seeds of national disunity, tough. There are votes to get (cost be damned) and an agenda to realize. Too bad about the unravelling that could follow.
To put it gently, Harper will not go down in Canadian history -- providing there is any more Canadian history -- as a unifying force for the country. Even before the start of the current campaign, he had begun his grand devolution project, draining off both authority and symbols of authority from a weakening centre."

And your party has not unravelled in Quebec and the west, mark? Please. If you want to build back to respectability, your party has to stop blaming everybody else, not to mention, you have to stop practicing Procrustean politics. Quebecers have rejected the liberal notion of "knife to your throat federalism." It does work for the west and it doesn't work for Quebec. So until your party comes to thew realization that it's best not to attempt to shape the country to your message rather than shaping your message to the country, you will always lose.
Although, I see many of your party members are of the notion the knives are working against Dion.
